Like most days, Icestar was up before the sun.
It was habit for her: she would wake up, quickly groom her fur, and head out into the camp.
More often than not, she would say a quiet hello to the warriors on duty, or to the cats coming in from Dawn Patrol.
This morning, however, was different.
There was something in the air, something that told her while the Clans were peaceful now, something big was happening soon.
She shook out her fur, standing. "Time to start the day," she mused, poking her head out of the Leader's Den.
She gazed up at the sky and scrambled to the top of Highstone, eyes locked on the slowly disappearing stars of Silverpelt.
The young leader sighed lightly and lay down on the rock, paws dangling over the edge.
The Gathering was soon. A time of peace between Clans. This would be Icestar's first Gathering as Leader, and she would be lying if she claimed she wasn't nervous.
But, thus was the life of a Leader.
The pale she-cat flicked her tail, looking away from the stars.
Ashenstar had a reason for choosing her as the Deputy. He must have thought her worthy of the position.
Now it was a question of her abilities.

Tawnyheart carefully and silently weaved her way out from the center of the warriors den where she made her nest. Bounding easily down the small cliff that led up to the den and into the clearing, she stretched before sitting back on her haunches to give her ruffled pelt a quick grooming, removing the few strands of moss that had gotten caught in it while she slept. She opened her jaws in a wide yawn once she had finished and looked around the clearing of camp, giving a slight blink of surprise when she saw Icestar laying on top of the Highstone. The sun had just barely risen above the horizon, but now that she was deputy getting up with the dawn was becoming normal. She had patrols to organize after all. At the moment, however, she just padded over to Icestar, giving her leader a respectful dip of her head. "Good morning, Icestar." she meowed in greeting, sitting at the base of the Highstone an curling her tail around her paws.
